Daily Summary

The Ride

Finally, a nice and not too windy day! The temperature started a little below 60 and rose to the mid-70’s. It was the first day of the trip where it actually got to where I considered it pretty warm. The winds were lower then recently and only in our face for a few miles at the end. We knocked out the 65 miles in very good time compared to recent days fighting the wind.

If you look at the route map, you’ll see a gray area near the start. There was a road closure and no reasonable alternative outside the interstate. So, we all rode to the closure and then got shuttled a few miles to the other side of the closure and finished the ride.

The Sights And Food

You can see all of us in our official tour jerseys. The company owner is leaving after today and another guide will take his place for the remainder.

There are two pictures of pretty much what we saw all day. We did pass a few small towns, but I didn’t get pictures.

Finally, the day topped off with a really good dinner. I had blackened catfish with some sort of corn and veggie medley underneath it. It also had a tomato sauce. On the side, I had a salad and mashed yams. Then, creme brulee for dessert. It was yummy!

We have a rest day in Sioux Falls. I will sleep a lot and hit the hot tub a few times.
